The Importance of Reflection & a Free Printable.
Ahh, the start of another new year.
New possibilities, new outlook, & EEK new goals?!
If you’re anything like me you may be looking back on the past year with a tinge of regret. You had such great intentions but you feel like you fell short. Or maybe you’re the type of person that doesn’t bother setting goals for fear of not reaching them…believe me, I’ve been there!
Before you dismiss the idea of goal setting altogether I want to encourage you to do this first.

1. Take a look back on the past 12 months. Now write down all your wins, both big & small. For some, a win may be making time for yourself to finally learn to paint watercolour…High Five! For others, a win may be getting out of bed & going to that job you don’t love…hey, it puts food on the table.
To help you keep a record of all your wins I’ve created a PDF Download where you can take stock of all your BIG Wins. All you need to do is print it, fill it out (using your favourite sparkly gel pen, of course) & put it somewhere where you’ll see it often.
You won’t believe the sense of accomplishment a list such as this can provide. This list will remind you of all the amazing things you can do. It will give you that bit of encouragement when you need to see something through, & it will give you permission to rest after you’ve been working long & hard.
Celebrate your Wins…You have accomplished much more than you realize.

2. Let it Go! Along with your incredible list of accomplishments, I’m gonna bet that there are at least a couple of goals you did not meet. Maybe unforeseen circumstances got in the way, maybe the goal was a little too far out of reach, or maybe the goal is something that is just not important to you anymore.
Regardless of the reason sometimes you just need to let it go.
Letting go can mean a few things. Sometimes it means we need to let go of our disappointment & feeling like a complete failure for not reaching the goal. A mindset like that will only make us feel worse & further reduce the chances of attaining a goal.
OR we need to let go of a certain goal altogether because it no longer aligns with our vision. That’s why it’s so important to look back on all your accomplishments before planning your intentions for the new year.
Do not underestimate the importance of reflection before setting your Big goals for 2020.
I want to leave you with one last thought before you begin dreaming up your big goals for 2020. In the words of Maya Angelou remember to
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
